Upcoming Launch of Sanctuary Garden in Stobswell, a pop up urban garden on 29.8.24
Creating more green, community spaces across Stobswell is the aim of a new partnership between Dundee Changemakers Hub, Stobswell Forum SCIO, local organisations, and Dee Arab Bites.
The idea was created by local organisations and community members who expressed that they wanted more spaces to garden, especially together. Councillor Lynne Short then helped identify that the vacant grassy spaces next to flats in local neighbourhoods could be ideal for the gardens to bloom.
Creating inclusive gardening spaces, bringing people together, and inspiring locals to love their neighbourhood is key to the Manyways pilot project. Aimed at local organisations and community members, we will grow, learn and collaborate, in the hope to develop more green spaces across Dundee. The first space, Sanctuary Garden, is being created on Court Street, with local organisations using sections of the garden, as well as local community members. Current organisations are Scottish Autism, Dundee International Women's Centre and Turning Point, as well as a local school. The garden will offer space to grow food and flowers, as well as a space to socialise and hopefully provide inspiration on how to use outdoor spaces.
Join in the launch of the Sanctuary Garden on Thursday the 29th of August, 10am to 12pm. Come along and share your ideas on uses of more green spaces, and help identify who would like to make these ideas happen. Dee Arab Bites will be providing free hot drinks and food to enjoy. We hope this is the start of many green urban pockets springing up around Dundee!
